I am the author of "Memoirs of Cancer: Ten African Americans Share Their Cancer Experience." I am also a cancer survivor. I was profoundly affected by my cancer experience and since I am a veteran teacher/writer/consultant, I wanted to educate others about the situation of African Americans and cancer in the United States, and reach out to people of all races who are affected by a cancer experience. According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), African Americans have the highest death rate and shortest survival of any racial and ethnic group in the US for most cancers. This is our wake-up call. My book says it all. It is a must buy if you are in the fight against cancer whether it's for yourself or a loved one, no matter what nationality you are.
