1. It is estimated by the American Cancer Society that 40% of African American men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer this year. This is an increase over the previous 34%.
2. It is estimated by the ACS  that this year 34% African American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. This is an increase over the previous 25%.  Get the facts in the "Memoirs of Cancer" book.
3. It is estimated by the ACS and the Office of Minority Health (OMH) that lung cancer is prevalent amongst African Americans. In 2007 over 16,000 African Americans died from lung cancer alone. According to statistics about 5.7 million African Americans are still cigarette smokers today.
